KUTA/LEGIAN :

Peanuts 2
One of the most popular venues in the Kuta area, the scene is young and sprinkled with locals, who all take to the huge dance floor in the cave-like air-conditioned interior. Three bars, one outside if the noise is getting to you, and pool tables provide plenty of room and plenty of entertainment. Rock and Roll and Disco music compliment the very reasonably priced drinks. Casablanca
Also wildly popular venue, this place goes right off on most nights. If you're looking for a raging crowd and loud music head here.

Hard Rock Café
The drinks are more expensive but regular live bands draw big crowds. The bands are usually good. They start at 11pm and go until 2am.

Baruna Beach Bar
Much more laid back, this beachside venue feature lives reggae every night from good local bands. Great for drink and a dance. Usually not too crowded, cover charge.

Bounty
Inside the ship, a very popular bar that plays great music and is very friendly, mainly due to its size !

Tubes
A favorite with suffers and people who like to meet them. One of the best places to watch movies.

Lips
This is not a big venue but the scene of some pretty wild nights as Country and Western fans congregate and get rich into the live and recorded music.

Rum Jungle Road
A restaurant and bar in front with another bar in the back complete with pool tables. Great for a beer and a game. Regular performances by acoustic guitarist.

Poco Loco
A Mexican restaurant with a large bar that serves great cocktails, try the giant marguerites and daiquiris. Modern jazz on the sound system.

Studebaker's
A first for Indonesia, this new venue offers good food, a great nightclub, and lots of promotional nights. On the Jl. Legian strip, near Hard Rock and Tubes, the open-air venue is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and parties every night. No techno, reasonable prices. Jl. Legian, Kuta.

TUBAN

BB's Discotheque
Very popular with the locals, BB's at the Bintang Bali Hotel is a high tech disco playing the latest music with lots of party nights. Also check the Alun Alun Lounge with the live jazz band and Bali's best bartender and the Taipan Karaoke with its stylish Japanese nightclub interior.

Zero Six
A huge open venue on the beach near Holiday Inn, usually only crowded on a party night. Check posters. The venue often has a live band to compliment the techno-style music.

The Fun Pub
At Dynasty Hotel, the Fun Pub is a laid back venue with the pool tables and a live band that gives guests the chance to sing Karaoke with a full band.

SEMINYAK

Double Six
Open on Monday, Thursday and Saturday night, the music is pure dance and there is always a good crowd. Open at 12 it usually starts to fill up at around 1am. Three bars and late night pizzas. Open till 4am, cover charge Rp. 15.000, Sat. Rp. 20.000.

Gado-Gado
Open every night except Monday & Thursday. Gado-Gado is big disco on the beach. The latest music, three bars and a big dance floor. Open till 4am, cover Rp. 10.000, Sat. Rp. 15.000.

Teras, La Terrazza
On the third floor, way about the noise of the main road, this is a great place to sip a cocktail whether you indulge in the fabulous Italian menu or not. Watch out for regular parties. Open until 2am, Jl. Legian.

Strand Bar
An old favorite that's been renovated and upgrade. A small menu and a large range of cocktails in this elegant bar. Regular exhibitions add interest.

Goa 2001
One of Bali's best bars, home to all types, ages and persuasions. A giant Bali-style venue with a long bar, a small bar, a sushi bar, a coffee bar and plenty of tables, Goa has one of the best DJs on the island playing huge variety music and always able to pick up the mood of the crowd - be it mellow or charged. Great spot to meet people and the draught beer is always cold. Crowd picks up as it gets later. Open until around 2.30am.

Café Luna
The new Café Luna opened in June is a far bigger premises, stylishly decorated and attracting an upmarket Euro-style crowd. An Italian menu, indoor/outdoor seating and two bars make this a popular choice for food, people-watching and late-night fun. Open until 2.30am, Jl. Raya Seminyak.

Jaya Pub
Jaya Pub has been entertaining an interesting blends of tourist and locals for three years and still as popular as ever. Visiting musicians both professional and amateur always joins the live band headed up by the consumate entertainer, Hendrick. There are always lots to laugh about and plenty to see. Very entertaining. Open until 2am.

Warung Tapas
Friday nights are hot at this open-style bar and restaurant at the top of main road in Seminyak. A live band is joined by visiting musicians and the crowds are often spilling out to the sidewalks.

Taj Mahal
This cavernous Indian restaurant in Oberoi Road has undergone a number of transformations, its latest is the Wednesday party nights with guest DJs, lot of room to dance and good bar.

SANUR

Koki
A casual pub atmosphere in this popular ex-pat hangout completes with pool table, cheap draft beer and good quality pub food. Friendly staff, Jl. By-pass, Sanur.

La Taverna
Sundown drinks on the beach at La Taverna and delicious Pizza and Pasta dishes are still a perennial favorite of Sanur Resident and visitors.

Bali Hai
Old time standards brighten this up-market nightclub and restaurant on the rooftop of the 10 story Grand Bali Beach Hotel. A dance band and the stunning view make this a perfect place for dancing and romancing.

Pirates
At Segara Village Hotel has a band every night starting from 8 o'clock. Go early and enjoy the international menu or just hang out at the bar and enjoy the entertainment.

The Trophy Pub
English pub atmospheres where locals and visitors sit and drink, play darts and spin a few yarns. Good food too.

Grantang Bar
Bali Hyatt's sophisticated cocktail bar, serves up live jazz every night except Wednesday from 8pm - 1 am.

NUSA DUA
Every hotel in Nusa Dua has its own bars and generally a nightclub. How full and how much fun they are depends on the current guests, but if you're staying there it's worth a look, it may save you a cab fare.

Club Tabuh, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel
The restoration of the hotel saw the addition of the Club Tabuh which features ladies nights, fashion parades, regular guest bands and theme nights, Phone the hotel on 771 210 to find out what's on tonight.

Hemmingway's
A very sophisticated atmosphere with a piano and singer every night, the air conditioned venue is a little out of the way down near Grand Mirage Hotel but is a very comfortable spot to stop for one of their fantastic cocktails and a good range of top shelf liquor.

Lila Cita Fun Pub
A live band every night with regular special events, when this venue gets going it can be a lot fun - depends on the crowd. For sunset cocktails check out the Persona Lounge and piano bar in the lobby, a great spot to meet for a drink before dinner or hitting the town.

Poco Loco Nusa Dua
Situated in the centre of Nusa Dua near to Ulam restaurant, Poco Loco has recently opened the uptown version of their Legian restaurant and bar. Great marguerites, imported beers and good music keep the crowds rolling in nights only.

Quinn's
At the Sheraton Laguna. Hotel is currently featuring a line-up of live bands. A lively venue.

UBUD
Nightlife in Ubud has its own flavor and is mostly centred around the town's excellent restaurants. Try the Dirty Duck, Café Wayan, Mumbul, Ary's Warung which received a silver medals in the best food category on Bali Food Festival 1996, Bridge Café, Prada Café, Lotus. Tutmak, which stays open until midnight, features live music some nights as does the popular Sai Sai Bar, and the Jazz Café
